OUR STORY

In 2018 Tom and Anna opened Monkeybean. A small café off the beaten track, that myself (Anna) and Tom were able to build entirely from scratch. When the idea for a coffee shop was born, I was travelling in Asia where I picked up a lot of inspiration and of course, saw plenty of monkeys…

Upon my return from travelling, we had the opportunity to build the cafe on Sugarswell Business Park, where Tom had worked since 2014. Tom also runs a bespoke kitchen and cabinet-making business ‘Monkeywood’, Tom’s skills came in very handy with the building and fitting out of the coffee shop and I picked up a lot of new skills along the way. With Monkeybean built and completed in November 2018, we indulged in a passion for good coffee and amazing cakes. Over the years, we grew a community hub and met so many supportive and friendly customers.

After nearly 5 years of Monkeybean, in 2023 we decided to close the doors and concentrate on Tom’s bespoke kitchen business Monkeywood. Still having a passion for amazing coffee, we have decided to continue to sell Monkeybean house blend coffee online for everyone to enjoy at home.
